SmogDesk ("we", "us") makes the SmogDesk app for iPhone, Android, Windows, and Mac, and operates smogdesk.com. This policy explains what information the app and website collect, how it's used, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
Your account. When you create a SmogDesk account we collect your name, email address, and business details such as your shop name, address, and phone number.
Records you enter. SmogDesk stores the shop records you create, including your customers' names and contact details, vehicle information (license plates, VINs, year, make, and model), invoices, estimates, payments, fleet accounts, and service prices.
Camera. The app asks for camera access only when you use Scan Registration. It reads the vehicle details off the registration, such as the VIN and plate, and saves them to that vehicle's record in your account.
Quote requests. If you request a quote on smogdesk.com, we collect the name, shop name, email, phone number, and details you enter, and use them only to respond to you.
Subscriptions. Payments are handled by Apple, Google, or Microsoft. We receive confirmation of your subscription status but never see your card number.
How we use it
- To run the app: creating invoices, tracking accounts, and producing reports
- To sync your records between your devices
- To send the reminder emails you choose to send to your customers
- To provide support and fix problems
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information or your customers' information, and we do not use it for advertising. We don't look through your shop records; they're there to run your account.
Where your data is stored
Your records are stored on your device and synced to SmogDesk's secure servers so they're available on all your devices and protected if a device is lost. We use trusted hosting providers to run these servers, and they may only use the data to provide that service to us.
Your customers' information
You control the customer records you enter into SmogDesk. You're responsible for collecting that information properly and for any messages you send to your customers through the app.
Keeping and deleting data
We keep your records while your account is active. You can cancel your subscription anytime with Manage Subscription in the app's Settings. Canceling stops billing but doesn't erase your records. To delete your account and its data, email support@smogdesk.com from the address on your account and we'll remove it.
Children
SmogDesk is a business tool and is not intended for children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we make significant changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page and let users know in the app.
